Rosengatan 8

11th flight

Only 2 nights left and then i'm back on a flight again! My 11th flight in 5 weeks, how sick is thaaat.
I'm kinda tired of traveling, longing to get my "regular life" back, whatever that means for me. I just wanna have a home & a job I guess, a place where I kind of can settle down for a while. Last 5 weeks has been a lot of traveling, and I love it, but now I'm ready to get back again.

So 5 weeks ago, 11th of july, me and Sonch were supposed to go to Denpasar in Bali. We missed our flight to Bali and instead we ended up staying in Malaysia for two days to explore Georgetown/Penang where Sonja used to live when she was little. After that we went to Bali and met up with Amanda and had 2,5 amazing weeks together before we split up. The girls went back to home sweet Melbourne and I continued my trip to California to meet up with my aunties and my mum! During my stay here I've been to both San Francisco and Las Vegas. I also got lots of time to spend with my aunties that I haven't seen since 12 and 6 years ago.

And now I'm sitting here on my bed, being more nostalgic than ever thinking of all of this, actually thinking about everything that has been going on the past 8 months. Or 12 months. I must say, my first year off from school has been so amazing.

I see a lot of people going back to school this fall, many of my closest friends too, even Sonja is going back to school! And aah, I just miss it so much, is that weird? I envy you guys, I'm kinda excited to be a uni student. I just know that it's not my turn this year and that i'm not ready for it. To be honest I didn't even apply for school this year, I still have no idea what I wanna do with myself. To many choices in life, to hard to decide.

Last I saw Sonchie when we split up in Perth before I came here!
Haha, aaaw I miss my hobo

Grand Canyon, Arizona, USA

4 hours through the desert of Arizona and we finally reached destination. Actually one of my dream destinations in life, and now I've finally seen it! Grand Canyon!
I'm a s u c k e r when it comes to views, and this was close to as massive as Blue Mountains outside Sydney was! Yeah, it really felt like something standing at the edge looking (or me: staring) at this beautiful scenery, I asure you guys.  It was like we were staring at a beautiful painting, cause it didn't feel real at. It was like I could touch it with my fingertips, cause it couldn't possibly be that we were standing there. It was so quiet and no wind at all. It's like when you're sitting inside an airplane, looking down at the ground..you're not really feeling that you're that high up! Absolutely a massive experience!

Las Vegas, Nevada, USA

San Francisco, as charming as always

Famous cable cars in S.F that took us up and down the steep streets!

Ate lunch at Fisherman's wharf where u can get the best seafood..nom

Ordered Clam Chowder, it's a must when you get to Fisherman's..everybody eats it everywhere there.. it's delicious!

Went down to Pier 39 where you can find cute sealions

Golden Gate bridge, sadly we couldn't see more because of the fog.

Old Sacramento & government house

We went to Old Sacramento the other day, I wanted to come back since we used to go here when I was a kid.
It's such a nice place actually, they really managed to get the wild wild west feel to it!

Here is where Arnold Schwartenegger used to sit when he was a governour for California!
But he isn't anymore, so we didn't bother to go inside (i've been there before anyway)

all we do is eat

on my way from L.A to Sacramento..this is L.A from above! all the beaches, ah, looks so good.

best cake in the world, or something. tarocake!

everything here is so freaking huge... check this out as an example!!
went to see the last Harry Potter movie.. after 10 years.. I was up in the sky!

Went to this place called Texas roadhouse, tyyyypical american steakplace! And the steak was so. good.

The greatest roadkill. Covered in cheese...

You get peanuts as an appertizer, and you're supposed to through everything on the floor...like this..it was weird.

JOBBA & BO I NORGE

Men.

(via internet)

(personligen)

Finn.no, Zett.no, Hybel.no

Heya!

I wanna upload pics from Bali SO BAD but I don't have any pictures, they are all in Melbourne atm!

I'm gonna book my flight back to Melbourne as soon as possible! Sonja and Amanda are allready there, they went there straight after Bali! They said a lot has changed since before Bali, and it has, it truly has! Sonja decided to go back to Sweden at the end of august and Amanda will leave as well in the middle of september. My two closest mates are leaving to do some other things in life, study for example. I decided to go back to Melbs anyway, Melbs is my base! I'll start off working there for a while to save up some and enjoy my time over there! People do new things for themselves and this is what I'll do for myself, to see how it's like to actually be by myself in a big city on the other side of the world with no one I allready know from back home. It's gonna be scary and exciting. I'm gonna see what I'm capable off and prove to myself that anything is possible if you are stubborn and really want something. So far I've managed to take myself around the world to different countries, because I'm stubborn. I decided long time ago this is what I want to do, and I've worked for it! Now i'm here, and I can do more. I wanna see more, do more and learn more things and I'm deffinetly not ready to leave this life anytime soon!!

Now I'm enjoying Cali! It's so relaxing here, like in rehab. I live in Sacramento at my aunties/titas house. Gonna stay for another 2 weeks. We're going to San Francisco this weekend and I'm also planing to go to Vegas before I leave, but it's pretty expensive! I really wanna go there though, and see Grand Canyon as well (has been my dream for ages, since I'm a freak when it comes to lookouts, views and stuff like that... like Blue Mountains outside Sydney or huge ricepaddies on Bali).

Time will tell

I realized one thing. Since I'm in California I'm also in the middle, between Australia and Sweden. Right now in the middle of deciding about my future as well. Which way am I going? Heading west, heading east? I don't feel ready to come home to Sweden, and that wasn't my plan in the beginning either. Go to California and then go back to Australia. That was my plan. But what happens when things start to look different back in Melbourne? People who you got to know, that may not be there anymore? The city you once loved, will it be different? Is it tempting to go back to Sweden because it in some way feels more confortable? I have a few things I would love to do back home right now, but is that reason enough to actually go?

But isn't travelling also about learning about not to choose the most confortable choises you have in life? To experience how to get around things that scare you. After all, if I go back to Melbourne and people I know might disappear I'm by myself for the first time since I started of travelling 7th of january this year. Scary but on the same time so exciting to see what i'm gonna do next. I'm always talking about randomness of life, and see what that thing called randomness did to me so far? Where will it take me next? I'm almost dieing to see. Right now I have no freaking idea where it will take me.

Time will tell.

California, Baby

I'm here!
It was a long way to come over here, as I expected. Me and Sonch went to Perth and slept at the airport (at a bench) like hobos before we had to split up and I went on a flight to Sydney. In Sydney they had a massive power breakdown with delayed flights as a result, such a caos at the airport. From Sydney to L.A it was a 14 hour flight. My god, I thought I was gonna die at first but as soon as I got seated I realized that man, I didn't even know how to NOT entertain myself during this time. Was so many things I wanted to do so I didn't even sleep more than 2 hours the whole flight. I had a touch screen infront of me with hundreds of movies, tv series and music so I could make my own playlists, the latest news, flight path, travel guides from Lonley planet and so on. They had also attached a video camera on the flights backwing so you could actually watch the flight from above while we were flying! technology now days..wow.

I missed my connecting flight in L.A to S.F and they also decided to notify all the passengers when we reached destination that all of our bags was left behind in Sydney. Good news! So going through customs, rebook tickets and so on took hoooours. So annoying after over 20 hours of travelling at that point. Anyway, Quantas handeled it pretty good, gave me food vouchers and a ticket all the way to Sacramento instead!

I'm so freaking happy to be here, it's so relaxing and I love to hang out with family. My mom and my two aunties are so funny together. For the first time in 1 year im actually taken care of as well, haha, I'm not used to not think about rent and what to buy at the grocerie store at all...

You got to love randomness of life

I am sorry I haven't been updating in such a long, long time! I figured that it's really hard to keep track when you're out travelling like this. I have no idea how other blog people do it, but well, i'm not really that kind of person either!

I have so much things I have to write down.
At this very moment im chilling out with Sonja in Kuta on Bali, our last night. We have now been out for about 2,5 weeks. During those weeks a lot has happened I asure u!

11th of July me and Sonja was on our way to Denpasar in Bali with a connecting flight in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. ( i know it is a huge d-tour but it was cheaper that way). Unfortunetly we missed our connecting flight from KL to Denpasar so we pretty much "got stuck" in Malaysia (not that we cared even though we were pretty freaked out at first, but hey!). We decided to take advantage of that mistake and travelled Malaysia for two days! It was a freaking amazing experience!

The other day when I was talking to my dad on the phone I heard that my mum went to California the day before, just like that so just like that I decided to meet her up. I rebooked my globe ticket and tomorrow I'm going to Cali! It's gonna be the longest flight on earth going from here, via Perth and Sydney to L.A and finally reach my destination San Fransisco!! But totally worth it, it's gonna be so much fun to meet her after 7 months away from Sweden and my aunties as well. I'll be away from Melbourne for a while.

I will update soon again, with pics.

TEPPANYAKI!

Hey, so tonight we are going to South Melbourne to try something called teppanyaki! Teppanyaki is when a chef cooks your food at the table. It's a restaurant in South Melbourne called Sakura, supposed to have soooo gooood japanese food! Special occasion since it's our "last night" in Melbourne and we are also celebrating our beloved Khine on er 25th birthday! Wah, im excited to try it! And the reason why I say "last night" in Melboune is that we're not gonna party that much when we get back! Gonna hermit up, working working working! Save, save, save!

thursday

  • Jamaican banana pancake <3

    - Queen Victoria Market
    - Muleta's for lunch, best place if you like huge pancakes! (and if u don't you WILL after eating those, freaking amazing..)

Packing mode!

Gaaaaad, I don't get it! How the hell did we get so much stuff? We came here with one backpack each and now our whole room is covered with clothes and all this random stuff as well..as;djansd.
But yeah, fun though to find all those things I have that I've forgotten.. old postcards, boardingcards, letters you've got from other people... Haha Oh and I actually found a plasic ring I got from a guy on Koh Samet in Thailand! Hahah, I remember me and Lovisa got one each from those guys who held the fireshow at the beach every night...

I doesn't really hurt that much to pack our things, Amanda is more emotional about it that we are. Gonna miss this apartment though, so bad! And Khine, our beloved housemate and friend.

 5 feb 11 - Cairns to Brisbane

I found my boardingpass from Cairns to Brisbane! Like my escaping from Cairns and the cyclone boardingpass!
Wow, so cool seriously.

I remember when we booked it. We were sitting in Cairns. We just got back from Cape tribulation when everyone were talking about the incoming cyclone. It was supposed to be bigger than the first one and we knew the first one caused so much damage. We knew that if we stayed we would probably have to stay in security rooms for 1 week at least (and we later heard ppl did).. Hahaha I actually remember how we checked the weather forecast and that you could actually see this huuuuge thing coming in from the ocean..like double the size of the first one..so in panic Maja, me and Tom from Heron Island (we met him in Cape and lived together in Cairns) booked our tickets down to Brisbane. Haha because of that quick decision we are here..
I wouldn't be in Melbourne with Sonja at this moment Haha, so so so weird. Will keep this old boardingpass forever seriously..

Lyckligare an livet

I feel like i'm high on life! Being here and doing what I'm doing feels more right than anything!
Glad to feel that way about my decisions in life. I can't feel more than freaking proud over everything I made myself do the last 12 months.

Coming back to Melbourne after Bali is gonna be a beginning of a new era! New job, new apartment.
Every day is gonna be one day closer to our dreamtrip and we are gonna work for it, hard!
First thing we are going to do when we feel ready is to do a roadtrip through Australia! Dieing to see more! This countrie has so much to offer...

So now Sonja and I are gonna head out to get some boxes to put all of our stuff in. Gonna start packing today, we have so much stuff lieing around and it's also time to let those backpacks of ours, both well hidden under our bed, to see some sunlight again..

The decision is made!

I know you all back in Sweden have been waiting for Sonja to come home! You know what? SHE IS...NOT!
Yesterday she came home, sat at the kitchen table without saying anything. She just looks at me with a smile in her face and says with her destroyed voice (she could barely speak all day yesterday because of her cold):

"I think we should book our flight back, to Melboune."

The decision is made! SUCKERS SHE IS STAYING WITH US! <3

mon.04.07.11

Ah, I feel so glad!
Spoke to a few friends back home in Sweden last night, one of them is Jennie!
Oh my gorgeous, I've missed her so bad! And as we were talking about what's going on in
life she started to search for tickets to Melbourne. Haha, even though we're only talking about it
it's a nice thought if she would ever end up here with us.

Speaking with friends and family back home
makes me feel so alive. Some people are asking if it's not hard to leave everything back home
but as long as you keep in touch with the people you care about, I can't see the problem with being away.
Of course it sucks sooo much that you can't do things together and that you miss out on important moments
of peoples lives, like prooms, graduations and birthdays.. But still, you have to do your own things in life too, at the end of the day you have to do whatever makes you happy. Don't ever not do what you wanna do in life, doesn't matter how old you are, what youre doing in life or where you're from..after I've met so many people from all over the world that's what I learnt! It's never to late to just do your thing! Life is to short to wait around for the right moment..
